About Time
A column on time management by productivity expert, Abigail Barnes, founder of The Time Management Podcast.

I think we can all agree that no one wants to work longer or more than they need to. I think we can alsoagree that although we all get the same 24 hours a day, we don’t all have the same responsibilities, circumstances, qualifications, experiences, support or privilege.
With an increasing number of organisations now offering a mix of remote working and working from home, one of the challenges is how they design a hybrid work schedule so that everyone still feels included, can benefit from the flexibility, while ensuring they still meet targets.
What is a hybrid work schedule
A hybrid work schedule refers to how you allocate the roles and responsibilities of your job within your contracted hours of work, which can be completed at the location necessary for the activity.
It sounds obvious when I write it, and yet it’s causing controversy and complications for a lot of businesses. Perhaps the biggest issue is that for the first time in a long time, the employee is having a say in when, where and how they carry out their job.
Granted not all roles come with these new freedoms, which is why many are reconsidering their career plans.
You get to decide which tasks and activities require a distraction-free environment, which need the inputof your colleagues, and which can be done from a more relaxed or inspirational location at a time of your choosing.

Designing the hybrid work schedule that works for you
In order to maximise your time here are five key areas to consider when creating the schedule that works best for you and your resources. These are the five things I will examine in this article along with three further points to explore.
Identify your tasks & priorities: What needs to be done and by when?
Time Management: How much do you have, and what does it need to be allocated to?
Resources: What do you need to get your job done?
Collaboration & communication requirements: How can you use technology to support your location choices?
Feedback loop: Flexibility & adaptation: What can you learn from and improve as you trial new ways of working
